Hottest Restaurant Openings in 2017

We’re halfway through the first quarter of the year (brain teaser much?) and it’s about time we explored what this (somewhat still) new year will deliver to us. A new year brings several new things – new hopes, new dreams, new adventures, new friends, new experiences, etc. What it’s also bringing is new restaurants, LOTS of them. Check out the top DMV restaurant openings in 2017. Looks like it’s going to be a very delicious year.

Mirabelle – Locally famous kitchen duo chef Frank Ruta and pastry chef Aggie Chin have teamed up for the opening of Mirabelle, and upscale spot on 16th St. It is inspired by the French classical repertoire, as well as “the French professional outlook toward running a restaurant”. Meaning, you’re basically visiting little Paris if dining at Mirabelle.

Isabella Eatery

 Isabella Eatery – Chef and restaurateur Mike Isabella is the mastermind behind Tyson Galleria’s unprecedented restaurant project, set to open in the fall of this year. Isabella Eatery is a 41,000-square-foot eating complex made up of 9 restaurants and a cocktail bar. The restaurants include Mediterranean, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and more.

 Reverie – His first solo restaurant, chef-owner Johnny Sperro has drawn in “huge influences from Spain and Japan” to tie it into what he describes as modern American. An à la carte menu will be offered, in addition to a small tasting menu, with original dishes such as ramen croquettes, green curry turbot, miso-pickled cucumbers and uni with finger limes, and a whey-ramp vinegar granita.

Opening: Summer 2017



 Gravitas – Chef Matt Baker has moved to Ivy City with Gravitas, where he’ll feature two 5-course meals every week – a chef’s tasting menu and a vegetarian menu. The roof will have a garden to supply the kitchen and greenhouse bar, making all ingredients as fresh as can be.

 The Salt Line – Just in time for baseball season, The Salt Line is opening at Navy Yards Waterfront, walking distance from Nationals Park. This seafood restaurant will serve New England classics with focus on Chesapeake seafood, such as rockfish and white perch.
